Crystal Clear-KlinWata Foundation strives to help the underprivileged communities in Africa to gain access to safe drinking water supplies, improved sanitation systems and hygiene education through emergency relief efforts.

Crystal Clear-KlinWata Foundation backs its commitment to sustainability with rigorous monitoring and evaluation, and original research programs. Crystal Clear Foundation’ local staffs submits program and financial progress reports on a quarterly basis,  to evaluate their projects after the first year of completion and to measure what outcomes have emerged from the project and what lessons they have learned to guide future efforts. We constantly refine our overall monitoring and evaluation processes to ensure accountability. Crystal Clear-KlinWata Foundation has also initiated third-party evaluations of its programs to determine how it is fulfilling its mission.

All of the projects Crystal Clear-KlinWata Foundation supports are self-sustaining with organizational and financial structures in place to allow communities to independently operate and maintain them. They all have an active water committee governing the operation of the water system, and users paying a water bill to cover the costs of operating and maintaining the water system.

The need for effective supply of water and sanitation cannot be overstated. The technical requirements of our country’s need for water and sanitation are overwhelming and mirror the needs of most other inner-city populations. Crystal Clear is being launched as a national model for building a future, uplifting individuals and creating self-sufficiency. Undaunted, Crystal Clear is committed to excellence, with a clear vision and passion for delivering outstanding results.

Crystal Clear’s implementation, strategy and ambition are set out to make a significant contribution to the millennium development goals. These targets will aim to resolve the country’s water and sanitation crisis and tackle poverty through actions including halving the proportion of people without access to safe water and sanitation.

Crystal Clear will ensure that these issues are addressed and that the country’s poorest people will gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education that forms the first, essential step in overcoming poverty.

Crystal Clear will work with local people who understand local issues, and provide them with the skills and support to help communities set up and manage practical and sustainable projects that will meet their real needs.

Crystal Clear will also campaign locally and internationally to change policy and practice and ensure water and sanitation’s vital role in reducing poverty is recognized.

Crystal Clear’s work in Sierra Leone alone will make a significant contribution to reaching the goals especially through actions to halve the proportion of people without access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education before stretching out to other region when demands are met.

Crystal Clear will
  • Help improve the lives and social status of the beneficiaries.
  • Demonstrate interest in sustainable development through the provision of water, sanitation and hygiene education especially to those from the underprivileged communities.
  • Utilize the natural water resources available for supply in the country
  • Engage, integrate and develop the under skilled and unemployed youths and other community members lacking the adequate resources needed to secure and maintain skilled jobs with which to support themselves and their families.
  • Involve in community-based training, effective research, water and sanitation development programs and implementations.
  • Critically identify from the right base perspective the demonstration of a sound and effective provision of these sorely needed resources by the community for future funding of the long-term programs.
  • Construct pipe borne taps, pressure pumps, wells, toilet and other sanitation facilities in areas where these facilities are required.
  • Restore of old and damaged pipe lines and wells for the communities that lack the necessary facilities to restoring them.
  • Ensure that the recipients of those significant facilities are asked to provide assessment of the social impact of they have being receiving or of the project.

In our approach, CRYSTAL CLEAR - Klin Wata FOUNDATION will bring together professional researchers, Engineers, technicians and analysts who represent a range of ethnic communities and have many years of experience working on the issues affecting the people of the community.

The foundation will design each research strategy to suit the specific requirements of the people. The projects will include small-scale, in-depth qualitative approaches as well as large quantitative analyses. The project will have extensive community networks which we can leverage for research purposes. The project will also seek not only to describe but also to explain.
Crystal Clear's creative and pragmatic use of research methods will be drawn on:

  a. individual interviews
b. focus groups
c. surveys
d. consumer panels
e. interactive product testing
f. Projective techniques and field observations
